Project outputs now available

A final report and online database is now available as part of the Identifying Precarious Victorian Oral History Collections Project.

The project, which ran from July 2024 to November 2025, was led by oral historian and Research Project Manager Dr Anisa Puri. It was conducted by the Australian National University team of the Language Data Commons of Australia (which received investment from the Australian Research Data Commons).

Anticipated next steps: Building on the project

While the Identifying Precarious Victorian Oral History Collections Project is ending, the ANU Language Data Commons of Australia team will likely build on this project in 2026, by identifying precarious oral history collections in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, and by hopefully determining and implementing feasible next steps to offer support to identified Victorian collections.

It is also hoped that the project outputs will spark further initiatives to better support precarious oral history collections, which so richly illuminate Australian history, culture, language and society.
