Do you have an oral history collection that is located in NSW or the ACT but doesn’t have an archival home? The Precarious Oral Histories Project wants to hear from you.
Led by the Australian National University team of the Language Data Commons of Australia, the Precarious Oral Histories Project is a national initiative working to identify at-risk oral history collections across Australia as a necessary first step towards their long-term preservation.
If you have a precarious oral history collection in NSW or the ACT , the team are keen for you to complete an online survey by 31 October 2026. Go to the survey at: https://precariousoralhistories.com/collections-survey/.
Your collection doesn’t need to be publicly available and you don’t have to share your collection with the team to participate. All you need to do is tell them about it.
The project aims to make its list or oral history projects as comprehensive as possible. You can help by:
- completing the form to tell the team about your collection
- assisting someone you know who has a collection to complete the form
- promoting this unique opportunity with your networks and encouraging others to participate.
